About CHCF
In May 2008, the Clare Health Centre proudly opened its doors to a new $4 million, state-of-the-art collaborative health centre.
Shortly thereafter, the Clare Health Centre Foundation was formed to facilitate the purchase of medical equipment for which government funds are not readily available.

A Unique Approach
In 2003, the Municipality of Clare was facing a healthcare crisis. The conversation to remedy the situation began when local physicians Dr. Comeau and Dr. d’Entremont, met with municipal councillors to express concerns about the lack of physician care available for the residents of Clare.
During the municipal election campaign of 2004, councillors heard the same concerns from the residents of Clare.
In 2004, the newly elected councillors made health care for the residents of Clare a priority. A committee was formed and given the mandate to build a new healthcare centre.
Four short years later, in May 2008, the Clare Health Centre opened its doors with four doctors and the capacity to accommodate six full-time physicians. The 14,000 square foot, $4 million, state-of-the-art collaborative health centre is a true success story made possible by the joint effort of many individuals, including firms, contractors, workers, councillors, municipal staff, and the community at large.

It is a unique healthcare model. The building is owned and operated by the Municipality of Clare, and practicing physicians occupy the premises as tenants.
Tenant physicians operate within a modern workspace where they can deliver quality care, unencumbered by the day-to-day responsibility of managing a facility. This allows our physicians to provide personalized, efficient, and cost-effective service for their patients.
