CLARE HEALTH CENTER FOUNDATION RECEIVES A $5,000 FEDERAL GRANT IN RECOGNITION OF ITS CONTRIBUTION TO THE COMMUNITY

Clare, NS – December 16, 2020: The Clare Health Centre Foundation has received a $5,000 grant from the federal government through Canada’s Volunteer Awards, which recognize the outstanding contributions individuals, not-for-profit organizations, social enterprises and businesses that improve the well-being of individuals, families and their communities.

Wayne Gaudet, Chair of the Clare Health Centre Foundation, noted: “In this pandemic year that has posed a challenge for our fundraising efforts, the Foundation is grateful for this contribution from the federal government. The funding received will help us replace existing equipment in the Centre that is nearing the end of its life cycle.”

As the recipient of the Atlantic Business Leader Award, the Foundation is also asked to pursue activities that are consistent with the objectives of Employment and Social Development Canada’s Social Development Partnerships Program. This includes the development, sharing and application of knowledge, tools and resources to address the social needs of individuals, families and communities.

According to Dr. Lionel d’Entremont, member of the Foundation former physician at the Clare Health Centre, “This equipment helps our physicians provide better services to our patients without referring them elsewhere. By saving time, our goal is to save lives.”

Over the past two years, financial contributions have allowed the Foundation to spend $27,000 on new equipment for the Centre.

The Foundation continues to accept financial donations from the public to continue to improve the health services offered by the Clare Health Centre. For more information, please visit www.clarehealthfoundation.ca.
